The British Arts & Crafts movement has always been associated with a handful of pioneering artists /designers and entrepreneurs including William Morris, CFA Voysey, Archibald Knox, C R Ashbee and Arthur Lanenby Liberty, the founder of Liberty & Co. The movement began as a reaction to the industrial revolution and prompted a return to handmade native craftsmanship. The materials favoured by these designers were native English oak, Cornish copper, local pottery and pewter items made from Cornish tin.

Auction Atrium has secured a number of important items for their upcoming British Arts & Crafts sale which will be available to view online and in our new showroom from the 20th September, with the sale finishing on the 30th September. Designs by Archibald Knox in pewter, silver, copper and Dr Christopher Dresser, Robert “Mouseman” Thompson, William De Morgan and A E Jones will feature ceramics along with objects.
