a typical Chinese bird-and-flower genre painting in the meticulous style (gong-bi), signed by He Xiangning and a personal name seal following


He Xiangning, born in Hong Kong, was a women artist and revolutionary. After marriage to Liao Zhongkai, one of the politicians in the founding of Repulican China, she went to Japan in 1902 and studied arts in Tokyo Mubai Women University, Women Teacher's School and Women Arts School respectively.
