
A Chinese turquoise glaze figure of Kuan Yin, 18th century, with a matching wood stand
青蓝釉观音坐像,18世纪,配有木座
the Goddess seated in repose with the right leg drawn up and one hand resting on her left knee and dressed in a flowing robe drawn together at the waist with a tassel belt, the left hand holding a string of beads and the right a slender vase, the whole figure carefully modelled with detailed representation of the folds of the robe and glazed in a rich even turquoise with very slight pooling effects in places, the base unglazed with a central hole and traces of fibre webbing, the matching hardwood stand carved to fit the shape of the base and with stylised leaf detail.

观音一手持宝瓶,一手放于左足,身上青蓝釉釉色基本均匀,袍纹釉色有深浅,部分有轻微缩釉现象,底座无釉有洞,并见烧制时覆盖用的布纹,配硬木莲花座
此件作品曾为英国著名亚洲及远东艺术品收藏家George Eumorphopoulos (1863-1939) 所藏
