A Tchokwe Mask, Angola, circa 1900,

 

the diminutive face with a pointed chin, open mouth, T-shaped nose, coffee bean eyes surrounded by large circular orbits set under a set of incised dots, flared ears, pierced around the edges for attachment of a fibre coiffure; red patina, stand not included

 

Reference:

This small mask is in style related to the famous Tchokwe mask now kept in the National Museum of African Art,  Washington, inv. 85-15-20, related to the Musamba area in the so-called country of origin.
