Three Ragamala Paintings, Aurangabad, North-Western Deccan, India, 1680,

gouache on paper, the first depicting Abhiri Ragini, inscribed in Persian 'Picture of Abhiri Ragini, 5th wife of Hindol Raga according to the book of the Bharata Shastra ofthe Ragamala of the Hindus' and in Hindi 'The fifth ragini Abhiri'; the second either Todi Ragini or Gujari Ragini, the third unidentified. A copy of a letter from Robert Skelton, former keeper of Indian Art at the Victoria and Albert Museum to the vendor commenting on this picture is available with this lot. (3)
